The perfect Bedding situation!
So, this was originally a Facebook post, but I was yelled at by my friend, Ty, and told that this should be a blog post! So, here we are!
Sleeping comfortably has always been important to me. My ultimate goal has always been to have my bed make me feel like I’m sleeping in a nice hotel. Below, you’ll find the #ProTips that I follow.
Note: Great bedding is a bit of an investment, but worth it, in my opinion, and you can find great sales!
GET A DOWN COMFORTER
Not down alternative. GET THE FEATHERS! LOL. There’s a huge difference in feeling. Also, get one size UP from the actual size of your bed (if you have a queen-sized bed, get a king comforter). There’s a reason for this…you’ll see below. I got a Charter Club White Down Medium Weight comforter from Macy’s. Note: Don't be afraid of this price...I didn't pay anywhere near this. The best time to order is on Black Friday, the day after Christmas, or any other major holiday known for retail sales.
GET GOOD SHEETS
Great sheets make a difference! Cheap sheets will do the trick temporarily, but if you want to avoid them getting the little lint balls or drying out your skin, opt for something a little more quality. I recommend the Classic Core Sheet Set from Brooklinen.
3. GET A QUALITY DUVET COVER
You want to make sure the duvet cover is the actual size of your bed. Yes, that means that it will be one size smaller than the comforter I recommend you getting. Why, though? Stuffing a larger sized comforter or insert into the duvet cover creates a fullness and fluffiness that can otherwise be hard to achieve. You know how you go to the department store and see how fluffy the bedding looks and then when you purchase it and take it home you notice that is didn’t quite translate that way for your bed? This is a hack for that! Also, because of the air pockets this garners, you’ll feel comforted when you’re under the covers without feeling weighed down or overheated.
I have found that my favorite duvet covers have been from West Elm. I know…I know! But trust me, it’s worth it, and you can also find great sales! Two that I recommend from there are the Cotton Cloud Jersey Duvet Cover, which I use for colder months, and the Belgian Flax Linen Duvet Cover for warmer months.
4. GET QUALITY PILLOWS
Do not get the regular cotton-filled pillows that go flat after two months. You can get quality pillows from many places but I can recommend the combo that I have on my bed:
Fern & Willow pillows for sleeping (saw these come across my Twitter timeline from FatKidDeals…highly recommend following them)
So there you have it! I promise if you get this combo, it’ll change your sleep life! Also, if you are in the market for a new mattress, check out my blog post on the one I recommend!
